As another financial year comes to an end here at Indicium Dynamics, it’s the perfect time to pause, take stock, and refocus for the year ahead. It's been a year packed with exciting projects, wonderful collaborations, and recognition that truly highlights the hard work of our incredible team and valued partners. We're proud to share some of these achievements with you, so keep reading!
Keeping Communities Safe from Fires
Our fire cameras had another busy season, providing around-the-clock monitoring. With over 550 fires detected and monitored, with 120 rapid escalations to fire management agencies through an agreed triage process, we're proud of the real-world difference our technology has made. This year, we also expanded our firefighting arsenal by deploying FireBase, our Rapid Deployment Unit, to our first customers in Western Australia.
Teaming up with partners like Goldwind, Sustainable Timber Tasmania (STT), and the Tasmanian Fire Service, we installed an essential fire camera at Brady’s Fire Tower, overlooking a region that has previously experienced the impact of bushfire. We're also actively pushing forward with our vision of creating an integrated fire camera network across Tasmania, and we’re leading conversations to introduce similar solutions nationwide.
XPRIZE Wildfire Competition
One of our most exciting milestones was becoming one of just 29 teams, and notably the only Australian and Southern Hemisphere-led team, progressing in Track B to the next round of the global XPRIZE Wildfire competition. We're continuing to develop our capability, which already sees us autonomously launching drones for enhanced situational awareness, and our team is rapidly developing our heavy lift capability. Our goals are to complete this manufacturing and engineering feat with as many Tasmanian skills and resources as possible.
You can learn more about our XPRIZE progress below.
Environmental and Natural Capital Efforts
We stepped up our commitment to environmental sustainability, kicking off some exciting projects in the biodiversity monitoring space. These projects range from tracking invasive species like cats and deer to closely monitoring endangered plant species. We've also been involved in freshwater monitoring within the Tasmanian aquaculture industry, groundwater and barometric monitoring for waste management, and gas monitoring for hazardous levels of methane, CO2, and CO.
Our Travels and Community Events
This year, our team had the chance to spread their wings both locally and internationally. We travelled to the USA for the XPRIZE event in Utah, and to Malaysia for the Axis Communications Partner Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Closer to home, we kicked off a project to monitor biodiversity in Victoria’s Grampians National Park, supported endangered species monitoring efforts in remote parts of Australia, and worked on carbon projects in Western Australia. We also stayed active in the community by sponsoring and presenting at the first-ever Tas Tech Fest, participating in AFAC 2024 and Impact X in Sydney, and contributing to the Forestry Australia Symposium and Fire Conference Australia, where Rob shared valuable insights from the field.
Sustainability and Our Workplace
Sustainability continues to sit at the heart of everything we do. We launched a new webpage dedicated to our sustainability goals and performance, rolled out the Indicium Wellness Plan based on feedback from our team, and introduced our first professional development policy to support learning and growth. Our commitment to waste reduction saw us become Tasmania’s first business to subscribe to RecycleSmart’s tricky recyclables program, and we continued mentoring future professionals by supporting a marketing student from the University of Tasmania. Our journey towards B Corp certification continues, and we’re hoping to announce some great news soon.
Awards and Recognition
This year brought some proud moments of recognition. We were thrilled to be named joint winners of the AFAC Data in Action Award alongside Sustainable Timber Tasmania (STT), and to receive the Forest Practices Innovation Award, also in partnership with STT. Our FireBase solution was featured nationally on 7News, and we capped off the financial year with the Tas ICT Excellence Award for our delivery of the Fire Foresight 24/25 fire season project in collaboration with our key forestry partner, Sustainable Timber Tasmania.
Building Strong Partnerships
Our collaborations continued to flourish this year. We're excited about our new partnership with FrontierSI, working together on innovative solutions to address critical environmental and infrastructure challenges. We’ve also strengthened relationships with Dryad Networks and Axis Communications, drawing on these relationships to enhance the delivery of our tech solutions.
We’re also proud to be delivering innovative solutions through strong partnerships in both the energy and environmental monitoring sectors. In collaboration with Enginuity Power Solutions, we supported Hobart Airport in replacing manual energy tracking with a smart, data-driven system that enhances efficiency and sustainability. We also forged a new partnership with environmental consultants Elgin Associates, working together to deliver a modern solution for hazardous gas monitoring.
Celebrating Our People
This year, we’re especially proud of the individual contributions that made such a big impact across the business. Jamie has been instrumental in streamlining efficiencies in Tasmania’s TradeWaste system while also getting his boots dirty on field deployments. Rob led the only southern hemisphere team to reach the global finals of the XPRIZE Wildfire competition, building new connections and collaborations that are helping to grow Fire Foresight’s reach both nationally and globally. Our tech wizards Mike and Brad overhauled Fire Foresight’s data pipeline to make it more efficient and powerful, and continue to develop and improve the INDICIUM Stack – the beating heart behind our data solutions. Harry brought our latest smart monitoring concept to life, designing and building radar sensors and flood camera boxes for deployment in the field. Tahnee broke new ground by leading Indicium’s first Natural Capital discovery project with land managers in Tasmania and has continued to push forward biodiversity initiatives across Australia. And Sophie, our internal sustainability lead, continued to lead Indicium on our B Corp certification journey, ensuring our values are reflected in everything we do.

Looking Ahead
We can’t wait to move into our brand-new office space—symbolising a fresh start and new opportunities (stay tuned for details!).
Whilst Tasmania continues to be our home, national and international projects will increasingly feature in our focus, and we’re excited to continue to work with partners and customers around the world on delivering projects that matter and have impact.
A huge thank you goes to our fantastic team, our valued partners, and everyone who contributed to making this financial year memorable. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!
